20 QUESTIONS BOOK TAG

It has been an eternity since I have done a tag. I have a habit of being tagged and not doing it…..So I don’t get tagged very often. But Danielle from Books, Vertigo & Tea pity tagged me in the comments. I am not sure who the original creator is so please let me know so I can credit them.

The 20 Questions…

1.How many books are too many books in a book series?

Well I like standalones, but if I am choosing series I would go with a trilogy max maybe even a duology.

2.How do you feel about cliffhangers?

I am a sucker for cliffhangers, they keep me hooked and moving through the series. When it comes to a series ending with a bunch of questions, I hate that I want some closure.

3.Hardback or paperback? 

Paperback, always paperback. Hardbacks are heavy and hard to carry around.

4.Favourite book?

No such thing.. But I do love the novella Wenjack by Joseph Boyden.

5.Least favourite book?

American Psycho, I hate that book with every fiber of my being. Unnecessary violence and gruesome scenes, for no reason.

6.Love triangles, yes or no? 

Hell no, why you ask, because they never happen.

7.The most recent book you just couldn’t finish? 

John Dies in the End by David Wong, I read probably like 100 pages of this and I was really enjoying it but it was weird and was just getting too long and I didn’t feel like reading the whole thing.

8.A book you’re currently reading? 

Aru Shah and the End of Time by Roshani Chokshi, so far I am in love.

9.Last book you recommended to someone?

That would be Aru Shah and the End of Time, loved the cover and so far I am hooked too the characters.

10.Oldest book you’ve read? (Publication date)

As far as I can tell that would be Romeo and Juliet.

11.Newest book you’ve read? (Publication date)

I have no idea how to figure that out, since Goodreads just seems to tell me the year.

12. Favourite author?

I honestly don’t have one, I am a major mood reader so it changes constantly.

13.Buying books or borrowing books? 

I love to buy books and add them to my shelves, but for cost and books I am unsure of I love my library.

14.A book you dislike that everyone else seems to love?

The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead, writing style is the only reason I didn’t like this book. I know it really popular and it should be, I just couldn’t get into the book.

15.Bookmarks or dog-ears? 

Bookmarks, you heathens.

16.A book you can always reread? 

I don’t reread… I have been thinking of listening to Harry Potter on audio because I just loved that series so much.

17.Can you read while hearing music? 

Nope, not at all.

18.One POV or multiple POV’s? (POV’s = Point of views) 

I really enjoy multiple POV’s if it’s done well.

19.Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days? 

Multiple days, I don’t read very fast and if I read too long my eyes hurt. Apparently I am a delicate flower who can be inured reading.

20.A book you’ve read because of the cover?

I can’t think of any, that I read just because of the cover. I did however buy a specific copy of Sleeping Giants because the covers are gorgeous. Great book by the way.

Two very different types of books, but both are really good so far.

WHAT WAS THE LAST BOOK YOU MARKED AS TBR?

I love memoirs and I find mountain climbing really interesting, I have watched a few documentaries on it.

WHAT BOOK DO YOU PLAN TO READ NEXT?

This finally came in at the library, but I joined a goodreads group called Read Around the World Book club. One book is chosen every month from a different country and is always a female author, this is the first one I will be trying, but sounds interesting. I’ll add the link here in case you guys want to check it out.

DO YOU USE THE STAR RATING SYSTEM?

Of course, expect I am a wild child and I use half stars, because Goodreads hasn’t gotten their s**** together yet.

ARE YOU DOING A 2017 READING CHALLENGE?

I am doing the Goodreads Reading challenge, where I set a goal for myself for 60 books and I am currently at 45 so I am way ahead of schedule. I usually do the popsugar reading challenge too, but I am just reading what I want and marking things off every once in a while that meet the list.

DO YOU HAVE A WISHLIST?

Yes, I have many some are in my head and then there is my Goodreads TBR, also I have a wishlist on my book depository account.

WHAT BOOK DO YOU PLAN TO BUY NEXT?

This is a tricky one, I just bought my second Moth box, which will soon be a subscription. So that will be my next two books but they will be a surprise when the get here.

Sooooo hard to make that choice. Shakespeare, Lisa Gardner, J.K. Rowling, Kahlil Gibran. A little bit of everything there.

Christen’s Questions

• If you could have dinner with any three people, living, dead, or fictional, who would they be and what would you talk about?

Hmmmm, so many choices. I would choose Maya Angelou, because her voice is amazing and no matter she says it feels inspirational. Dumbledore, because he is awesome, and could teach me magic. Last person I choose Martin Luther King Jr. because he is amazing, and we could use someone like him right now. I would like to talk about literally everything, but this isn’t the never ending meal. I would like to ask them how do we fix all the hate people have?

• What book quote makes you laugh every time?

Ok, so I knew I was going to pick something from The Martian because I think that book is hilarious. Then I spent half an hour reading quotes online laughing. I finally chose: “Yes, of course duct tape works in a near-vacuum. Duct tape works anywhere. Duct tape is magic and should be worshiped.”

• If you were a character in a book, what would your role be?

Well depending on the genre I would either be the person trip falls and is killed off right away. Or I think I would be the sarcastic comedic relief.

Well that was fun, I’m glad I finally remembered to go back and do that.

The Sims Book Tag

So I thought I was tagged to do this one, but can’t seem to find it if it was. Then again maybe I wasn’t either way tags are fun. If you tagged me and I forgot sorry about that. The original tag was created by Hailey in Bookland.

The Original Sims – The best author debut

I loved this book. It’s so funny and dorky at the same time. I’ assuming it not really plausible, but still a great read.

The Grim Reaper – The saddest character death

If you have been following my blog for a while you may have heard me mention this, well every chance I get. This is a novella and my favourite book at the moment. But this book destroyed me. In case you wanted to hear me rave some more click here for my review.

Sims Getting Stuck – A character that just got in the way.

I was sure what to put for this one. So I picked The Catcher in the Rye because well I hated the main character Holden Caulfield.

Simlish – A book with amazing writing

This was a recent read for me. I found the writing to be amazing, it just flowed so beautifully. It was almost like reading poetry.

Expansion Packs – A series where the books keep getting better

I am way behind everyone else, and have just finished reading the 5th book in the series. I am confident though that they will continue to get better for the last two books.

Sim Romance – The worst case of insta-love

This is why I don’t read a lot of YA. My biggest pet peeve is insta-love, I know a lot of people just loved it and thought it was cute, but it wasn’t for me.

Cheats – A book that was entirely unrealistic

I just didn’t like this book. It was just one thing after another, seemed like he just made stuff up to make the plot move along. It was just so random.

Needs Fullfillment – A character that made all the wrong decisions

I would have to say that Gatsby kept making the wrong decisions. He just kept trying to get Daisy and she didn’t care.

Error Code 12 – A series that started off well but went downhill from there.

Not going to lie, really liked it at the beginning. But I had to make myself finish the series.

The Sims Vortex- A series that completely engrossed you

It was either this one or Harry Potter again. I wanted to pick something else so I went with a graphic novel. It was the first graphic novel I picked up and I’m hooked.

I don’t think I am going to tag anyone for this. But if you want to do give it a shot, go for it.

Best book/series you’ve read in 2016

Okay, so surprisingly this is an easy one for me. I know, I know there are so many amazing books out there. But there was one that stood out from the crowd, and for the time being I think this is my favourite book of all time. If you would like to hear me go on and on about it you can always check out my review.

Authors that you’ve recently found and would like to read more of in the new year.

Well obviously Joseph Boyden I mentioned up above. But also Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Joe Hill, and Marissa Meyer.

Most anticipated book turned movie/TV show.

I’m going to say The Dark Tower by Stephen King, since I remember really enjoying the book, but I now can’t seem to remember what happens. Maybe it could be a way for me to get a bit of a recap. Then again I usually don’t watch a lot of books to movies, they are usually a let down.

Name a character that you wouldn’t mind sharing a kiss at midnight with.

Honestly there isn’t one that is coming to mind. I have never been someone who seems to fall for fictional characters. So I don’t know this one is going to be a non answer for me.

What’s on my TBR for 2017

Oh man where to start. I’ll give a few off my ever growing list.

How many books do you plan on reading in 2017.

I have set my Goodreads goal to 60 books, this should be doable I think. I try to up my goal a little each year but I don’t want to push it to much. I still want to enjoy what I am reading.

Will you participate in the Goodreads reading challenge or any other?

Well I guess I already answered the Goodreads question above. I usually do the the popsugar reading challenge too, but this year I have decided to focus more on getting my TBR down, as well as reading what is already sitting on my bookshelves.

Any New Years resolutions (bookish, blogging, or otherwise)?

Oh man there is a lot of stuff I want to work on every year. Read more, read better books. As for blogging, I’m still fairly new so I’m learning as I go so no resolutions for that quite yet. Personally, I’ll probably be working with physio to try and get back into shape after being in a cast for 3 months.

Oh man this is so exciting for me, this is my first time being tagged to do anything. And the reason you’re all here my answers…

Question 1.Why did you start a blog in the first place?

Hmmm, well obviously I love books and reading like all book bloggers. But I guess the reason is: I have an old ankle injury that got worse and I couldn’t do a lot. This meant I was reading way more than I had in the past, and to be honest I don’t know anyone who reads as much as me and wanted people I could talk books with.

Question 2. What is you favourite book?

Why? This is such a hard question!!The only reason I think I will be able to answer it is because I recently read a novella that I absolutely fell in love with. That would be  Wenjack by Joseph Boyden, if you are interested I did do a review where I basically rant about it non stop.

Question 3. What do you dislike the most?

Well I guess considering this is a book blog, I should probably pick something literary in some way, shape or form. One this that absolutely drive me crazy when I’m reading is when authors explain every little thing to you, readers are not dumb we can figure it out. The power of inference is great.

Question 4. What is your favourite food item from the mall?

This really depends on my mood at the time. But a safe bet would be tacos, I love tacos mmmmmmmmmm tacos.

Question 5. What is your favourite pastime?

Okay so obviously I love reading, but one of my favourite pastime is actually hiking. I haven’t been able too recently, due to my injury, but hopefully this summer I can get out there again.
